This course will serve as an opportunity for exploring a variety of techniques of stop- motion animation. Basic principles of character and set fabrication, timing, storyboarding, and performance will be covered using a range of methods including paper cutout, clay, wire armature, and found object animation. Students will use technology to capture, edit, and publish their animations. The class will include weekly screenings, exercises, and demonstrations, and require regular homework assignments. Fee for Materials: $20.00.

Zoetrope -Basic Storyboarding -Planning, execution, evaluation, & revision The Principles of Animation (using clay) -Individual Principles exercises -Storyboarding -Planning, execution, evaluation, & revision Armature Building and Animation -Armature construction -Realistic movement using the Principles of Animation -Basic walk using a line up movie -What's that sound? (animate for a randomly assigned sound) Within the above units, additional assessments may include: -Eye movement -Mouths and Speech -Subject specific animation i.e. Social Commentary |
